Various Artists - Dramatic Funk Themes Vol. 1 / 1973-1976

British Rare Grooves from the Themes International Music Library. The Themes International Music Library was formed in the early 70's by renowned composers/musicians Alan Parker (guitars), Mike Moran and Alan Hawkshaw (keyboards), Barry Morgan (drums) - all regular KPM contributors - together with producer Graham Walker (who had spent six years with KPM, and a year as Director of Music at Yorkshire Television). Graham and the others felt that library music had lost touch with contemporary popular music and needed a fresh approach. Enlisting the talents of Les Hurdle (bass guitar) and Frank Ricotti (Latin and tuned percussion) they assembled a dedicated group par excellence which could mirror the commercial sounds of the times, both in their writing and their playing. The Rhythm Section, as they soon became known, were the backbone of the recordings, though they frequently employed guest musicians to add further variety to the music.
