Brilliant debut for San Fran’s new Hector Works imprint, with the bi-coastal alliance of NYC’s Nick Chacona (Bear Funk) and SF’s Anthony Mansfield getting dubby disco on all of us. The original is a throwback to the Wicked Crew days of tripped out dancefloor funk with slamming basslines and spaced out keys, while the mighty Freestyle Man (Mood Music, Brique Rouge) works a monster of a dancefloor re-edit. Serious futuristic funk. On the flip Rong’s Stranger serves up a nasty peak time acid remix that caters to the electro-acid heads while Stefny contributes more of a tribal hypnotic workout.
