Mount Kimbie

Mount Kimbie have carved out another superb foursome for Hotflush. Folksy melodies and ducking piped synths swoop over garage cheek and serrated bass in opener ‘Sketch On Glass’, before ‘Serged’ takes us deeper and darker with its anti-quantised beats, spring reverb drips and surgically-altered vocals. Flipside, an epic sonic vista in ’50 Mile View’ makes way for delicate instrumental RnB before the introverted 2-step bleep of ‘At Least’. This could have been a Boards Of Canada release on Warp. Nice!
