The word “Detroit” is one that is used far too often in today’s techno realm. It seems that as soon as someone puts a pad over the top of a 4x4 kick drum they have the right to file their music under “Detroit Techno”. So… when tracks like these come around, well it’s a breath of fresh air to say the least. These four tracks by new boy Mick Welch truly capture the essence of Detroit, bringing to mind the classic works by Derrick May, Kenny Larkin, B12 and Kirk Degiorgio.
