Lakaband

Synth mistress Lakaband launches her label Mekalaka with the electronic goodness of “I Have to Dance”. After years spent honing her craft at her base in east London surrounded by analogue gear Lakaband is now ready to deliver her own unique take on electronic dance. Starting things in fine style, the title track blends raw drum machine rhythms with bubbling 303, off kilter synths and understated vocals to create a paean to the call to dance. On remix duties is elusive Dissident recording artist Gweilo, turning in a pulsing, synthetic disco dub.
