A somewhat perfect hybrid of American soul’s energy and the science of French pop. The year is 1974, Jean-Claude Pelletier has seen the light: thanks to a trip to the States he’s bowled over by the power of funk and realises that nothing will ever be the same again. From now on he must electrify his jazz and dive into the great big multicoloured acid bath in order to give his music a new pop dimension. We forget we’re listening to a French record and have the strange impression we’re immersed in the ultimate blaxploitation soundtrack. One which sums up funk’s greatest gimmicks and lays down some of funk’s laws for good.
