Sakamoto / Reich / Satie

Decca Classics opened their catalogue for some electronic producers, seeking to further establish the common ground between the historic and modern day aspects of musical composition.

Francesco Tristano takes on one of the most recogniseable piano riffs with his remix of ‘Merry Christmas Mr. Laurence’, which, after a brief introduction of that seminal loop, descends into deep, dubby house cut punctuated by shimmering keys.

Patrice Baumel’s remix is a techno workout. Completing the package Martin Buttrich delivers a version of Satie’s ‘Gnossienne No.4’ - Dont expect anything close to the original pieces, but its a nice experiment.
