Little Mary Staten - Steppin Stone (7inch)
Ervin Rucker started out as a pianist and composer in the 1950s. After he released his sole single on Musette he changed his name to Big Daddy Rucker in the late 60s. At the same time he founded his own GME label on which he released 45s under his own name as well as this one by Little Mary Staten. ''Steppin' Stone'' is an excellent funky-soul track while the flip ''Helpless Girl'' is a sweet soul ballad. Both cuts can also be found on the Tramp Records album ''The Soulful Side of GME & Musette Records'', released on LP, CD and digital.
