Kasper Marott
Keflavik EP
Kasper Marott is quickly cementing his reputation as a master of moods. No matter which genre he attacks, a fragile melancholy seems to seep through the cracks in his meticulously put together and otherwise upbeat productions.
Case in point: ‘Keflavik’ is a party track at face value, yet the flurry of arpeggios carry a certain delicate wistfulness, deftly counterbalanced by an almost italo disco-inspired bassline that’ll stay with you long after the track is over. This creates a tension which is both palpable and fluently expressed, which elevates the track from peak time on the floor to any time, anywhere.
As shown on the B side with „Megatu“ and „Microworld“, he is mastering more than one style: Both tracks being nothing less than high-end percussion works, completed with just the right amount of floating synth and bass lines.
