Jason Brunton / Rei Loci / FAOjesus
Profit And Loss
Another year has passed since Iridite's last outing, and they've been thinking long and hard about this release, and now feel they have another record which matches the quality and the overall feel of the previous four. First up sees the new Methodology track in full on dancefloor assault mode- serious break fuelled Techno with rolling drums, off beat funk elements and BIG stabbing chords moving in and out of FX laden atmospheres. Side Two kicks off with what might be described as millennium funk in flux; 80’s percussion collides with 21st Century Pads, Mr Fingers chords and a strangely familiar guitar riff, expanding, continually evolving elements, drawing you to its climactic conclusion. Track 3 gives us a gentle punch with the unmistakable sound of FAOjesus. Samuel’s debut album from 2002, “tetseflysoul”, provides us with this highly memorable and forceful track- powerful without being overblown, deep and repetitive without loosing its edge, melodic and electronic, almost unsettling and yet deeply satisfying.
