Mathew Johnson
7.19 Fm David Ep
Underground darling Mathew Johnson with another extra large three track ep.
Right from the start swirling synths over a pinching beat sucks you into a vortex before a rubbery bassline takes the lead and an electrical storm of dark, haunting sounds wrap you in. Words don't do this truly symphonic track justice, this has to be experienced in the dark and in earsplitting volume. On the flip Mathew Johnson gives free reign to his unlimited creativity with an impressive soundtrack style tableau of electronic jazz, sounding like late bass revolutionary Jaco Pastorius descending form the outerworld to interweave some of his crazy warbled, bend notes into a messianic David Axelrod arrangement, mixed at Lee Scratch Perrys echo chamber.
