Brief Encounter
Human / Total Satisfaction
Total classic two-step soul / rare groove double-sider from Brief Encounter. Officially reissued and widely distributed at long last.
'Human' is an epic, banging, mid-tempo rare groove stepper with super-high production values and hooks for days. In our opinion, it's one of the best of this type of sound ever made and sits next to the likes of Bobby Womack, Don Blackman, RAMP, Leon Haywood, Rufus & Chaka and the other gems of that late 70's period. We mean every word – a classic. Bonus beat: this is one of tracks used on the jingle at the start of Gilles Peterson's BBC 6Music show.
'Total Satisfaction' retains the incredible production and song writing, on a more mellow tip. Once again it happily sits alongside the finest rare groove and soul music ever recorded.
The mega-rare original and promo versions, originally circulated from 1977, fetch up to around $500 now.
