Shepp
Mozambique
This time a famous but anonymous remaining producers took the contemplative, spiritual jazz classic ''Song For Mozambique'' by radical tenorsax heavyweight Archie Shepp into completely new territory yet preserving the originials calm, soothing mood on his first interpretation with Archie''s flowing sax and the often sampled vocals and the conscious spoken words floating on top of a handclapping deep house groove with a rumbling bassline and discreet rhodes chords. On the flip ''Mozambique'' gets attacked in a more abstract, Detroit beatdown style. The version is mainly build around the vocal parts with rattling, intensive beats, breaking down to a very hypnotic, percussive part in the middle before introducing hypnotizing minor chords.
