James' sound is filled to the brim with soul and sophistication. Straddling the fine line between minimal techno and deep house, the Quilted Jacket ep is all of the above and more. Time tested and true, this record could have come out years ago or well into the future and still be fresh and innovative. An instant classic. The a-side track lays down easy in the mix while at the same time works it primarily from the melodic perspective. Subtle and subdued, sensitive and sophisticated. the first b-side track \''Plopka\'' comes up broken and funky, and has a house (circa 1996) flavour with midwest American charm. Finally \''Unicorn Magnificent\'' is some bent out of shape, pure synthetic funk thats a pleasure to cut up on the decks. Kind of like what a truly magnificent unicorn would be. :)
