Gino Soccio / Midnight Rhythm
Love Is / Workin'
With his edit of ''Love Is'', Prince Language transforms Gino Soccio's two-and-a- half minute cover of a Bill Withers tune into 7-minute dancefloor monster. This criminally slept-on album cut has an amazing Chaz Jankel or Talking Heads-like groove and one of the most epically beautiful keyboard breaks we have ever heard! On the flip side, ''Workin''' is a sleazy, sweaty, ''cruisin''' kind of affair! With lyrics that consist of ''Workin'!/Slavin' away!'', insane arpeggiated keyboard business and an out of control piano solo. Jacques Renault, of the notorious Don't Change parties at Happy Ending, in downtown Manhattan has done an amazing job of pacing this edit, it just keeps building and building to its cowbell-driven climax.
