Tempo Di Naja
“Naja” is a completely Italian slang term, synonymous with the expression ‘military service’. One would therefore expect an album with a gloomy atmosphere, associated with the war some of those young soldiers were destined to, but “Tempo di Naja” sounds very bright instead, sometimes cheerful as in the ‘whistled’ “Marcia Longa” or “Fanfara in festa”; as made explicit in the songs titles, the music is inspired by typical military service situations, still very distant from the real war context: “Discoteca” (Discotheque),”Montagna” (Mountain), “Pedalata” (Pedaling), “Femmine” (Females) are just a few examples. But “Sgambata” (A long and tiring walk) stands out above all, a jazz-funk cut with a killer groove that would perfectly fit in an early ’70s crime film soundtrack!
