Overdrive Unit

Overdrive Unit is a new name on us but after this fierce introduction is one we shall be keeping an eye out for. 'Thor' kicks off what is presumably the first of a new series of EPs with gallivanting techno kicks and caustic, decaying synth textures that flake and peel off the groove. 'The Sphinx Riddle' is more Millsian in its 90s techno minimalism and deep space intrigue then 'Voodoo Kill' flips the script again with something in between - there's texture in the synths and heft in the kicks, with rolling bass holding it together and some amusing Christian Bale samples rising through the mix. 'Time Passage' shuts down with a tactile touch and full-bodied deep techno rhythm.
