Yabby You & Mad Professor

The collaboration between Mad Professor and Yabby You goes back to the 1993 Ariwa LP In Ariwa Studios, a showcase-format meeting between the Guyanese-born south London studio architect and one of Jamaica's most theologically singular vocalists. Vivian Jackson - the ''Jesus Dread,'' whose work ran from King Tubby's console through Blood and Fire reissues before his death in 2010 - is an unlikely pairing with Ariwa's analogue electronics, but the logic holds: both work in a register of deep, self-determined roots production. Now star track 'Jahovia' lands here as a 12'' on ARI 350, with Mad Professor's 'Fake News Dub' on the flip.
