Originally produced by Haruo Chikada in 1989 under the tagline Bringing house music into the living room, Fade Out is a seminal work from the dawn of Japan’s club culture, gaining strong support around the legendary Shibaura GOLD scene.
Today, Fade Out stands as a core title within the revival of Japanese techno kay?, a movement currently being rediscovered by European diggers and DJs. This highly anticipated 12-inch vinyl release includes the 2026 remastered original version, along with rare and previously unreleased remixes by an exceptional lineup of artists including Haruo Chikada, Soichi Terada, and Hiroshi Fujiwara. The record is scheduled for release in Autumn 2026 via U/M/A/A Inc., with European distribution handled by the renowned club music store/label Rush Hour.
The sleeve artwork is directed by Midori Kawano, one of Japan’s leading visual creators known for her distinctive work across advertising and art direction.

Soichi Terada is a pioneering Japanese house music producer, composer, and founder of Far East Recording. Since the late 1980s, he has helped shape Japan’s electronic music scene while gaining international acclaim through his influential house releases and his celebrated soundtrack work for the Ape Escape video game series. His distinctive sound has earned him a global cult following and established him as one of the most influential figures in Japanese electronic music.
Hiroshi Fujiwara is widely regarded as the Godfather of Japanese Street Culture. A musician, producer, DJ, and founder of Fragment Design, he helped introduce hip-hop, club culture, and contemporary streetwear to Japan. Through influential collaborations with global brands such as Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Moncler, he has shaped music, fashion, and youth culture for more than four decades, inspiring generations of creators around the world.
Haruo Chikada is a legendary Japanese musician, producer, writer, and cultural critic whose influence spans more than five decades. Often regarded as one of the architects of modern Japanese pop culture, he pioneered Japanese-language rap and hip-hop through his BPM label and President BPM project while continuously shaping music, fashion, and youth culture through his work as an artist, producer, and commentator.
OMB (Daisuke Yamagishi) is a Japanese DJ, producer, and composer known for his atmospheric and progressive house productions. Active internationally since the late 1990s, his music has been championed by leading DJs including John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Hernan Cattaneo, and Anthony Pappa, earning him recognition as one of Japan's most internationally respected underground electronic artists.
My go-to track is the Moody Strings remix of Koizumi's Fade Out song. It's a rare find that is now finally repressed along remixes by Japanese house legend Soichi Terada.
