Rick Wade - Late Night Basix (reissue)

Astonishingly, 32 years have now passed since Detroit deep house don Rick Wade made his debut on his own short-lived Harmonie Park label. Now, courtesy of admired French label Phonogramme, that in-demand debut EP has received a much-deserved reissue. As it did back in the mid 90s, the A-side boasts two takes on 'Nothing To Fear', with Wade's drowsy, deep and lightly jazzy original mix being joined by the more jacking drums, cut-up vocal snippets and the deep, warm bass of the superior 'DBX Mix'. Turn to the flip and you'll find 'I Do Believe', a warming, chunky and Rhodes-powered deep house shuffler topped off with wide-eyed female vocal snippets, and the ultra-deep toastiness of 'I Can Feel It'
