DFA sublabel Rong music take it upon themselves to coin a new genre 'Notwave', opening a space into which they can slot updated takes on the legendary No Wave scene of late 70's/early 80's. Hence tense and angular art rock, indie disco and exceedingly trendy tracks from the likes of Striplight, Tussle and Welcome Stranger, retreading the itchy rocking styles of James Chance and the Contortions or Lydia Lunch et al mixed with hints of Arthur Russel styled dancefloor sensibilities.
