1990 : I Guerrieri Del Bronx
1990 seemed an awful long way of in 1981 when Enzo Castellari created the post-apocalyptic Bronx Warriors. His homage to Escape From New York, the film reveals the Big Apple to be the scariest place known to mankind... Yet scraps, kidnaps and robs to an incredibly funky soundtrack. Amid the mild cosmic flurries and deep-seeded Italo dynamics there's some great cultural references with tracks such as ''Radioprogramme'' playfully poking fun at interchangeable hick airwave twangs while ''Learning To Die'' goes deep into hammy operatics, referencing Carl Orff's ''O Fortuna'' with a great sense of bohemian rhapsody. Whether you've watched this crucial slice of pulp cinema or not, the soundtrack will instantly engage.
